The 2024 Barkley Marathon saw a total of 38 starters, including four women and 34 men. Among the participants was Ihor Verys, who made history in his debut by becoming the first to complete the grueling race. Unfortunately, ultramarathon legend Sarah Rugloski, who won the race in 2021 and 2022, had to withdraw late due to injury.
